RCW. 3787 posts · Joined 2007. #4 · Jan 8, 2012. Close off hose from the bottom of the overflow tank to the engine. Fill everything but the overflow tank up with coolant and leave the radiator cap off. Bring it up to operating temperature and observe the fill line of the coolant in the radiator.

The thermostat housing has a large black hose coming out of it; I think the metal tube the follows the hose has the bleeder screw on it. By the was check the weep hole at the base of the water pump. Disconnect your battery, unplug the reg/rect. and connect your meter (set to ohms) red lead to any of the three wires that go to the stator, black lead to frame ground.I would verify that it actually is overheating and not just a sensor failure. Make sure your choke valve (Kaw calls it a starter plunger) is both closing and opening all the way. It is the cable controlled valve on top of the carb, next to the main throttle cable and slide. If it sticks shut the carb will run lean when cold and and be very hard to start.Any case the Mule is actually quite simple, only thing to watch is making sure you get all the water out if the head before taking it off.
