The Gunks is one of the oldest climbing areas in the country. Fritz Wiessner first climbed at the Gunks in 1935, and he and Hans Kraus put up many classic routes in the 1940s. High Exposure, established in 1941, remains one of the most exposed and exciting 5.6 routes any climber will ever do, and should be on every visiting climber's tick list.

Turn right on Mt Si Road and follow this across the bridge. The trailhead will then be on your left. Follow the Little Si Trail for around .7 miles until the trail takes a right and you see some cliff faces through the trees to your left.KANCAMAGAS VIA GREELEY PONDS TRAILHEAD: Take I-93 to Exit 32. Take a left off the light at the exit ramp and stay on the Kancamgas Highway through the tourist town of Lincoln and past the Loon Ski Resort. continue past the trailhead to the East Pond Trail and until you begin up a switchback on the Kancamagus Highway.
A technical beginning leads through easier climbing up to the roof. Jug haul out the roof until the angle changes, then forge up the difficult boulder problem above. 10-12 moves comprise the technical crux, but the difficulties continue via a battle with some off-balance 5.12 climbing. Finish with some exciting and slightly runout 5.10/11.
